PASSION PLAY ST GERARD'S MARCH 30TH Advance notice that a Passion Play will take place in St Gerard's on Friday 30th March at 7pm. This is just before Holy Week and will help us to focus on the events of Holy Week. It will be performed by an SVP group from South Wales. Tickets will cost £5 and should be available at the beginning of Lent. Please put this date in your diary
CAFOD LENT FAST DAY, Friday 2nd March 2012. Give it up for Water this Fast Day. Every 20 seconds a child dies from DIRTY WATER. You can help change this. This Lent we can DOUBLE our donations at no extra cost. For every £1 you give, the Government will give £1, helping us to change more lives. (This concession is NOT Gift Aid and is therefore available to all). We will hand out the envelopes on Sunday 26 February If you are giving up something for Lent, you can donate the money you save to Cafod so we can keep providing some of the poorest families with clean water and essential services. Why not use our Cafod money boxes to collect your savings. Boxes available at the back of the Church. .Cafod is celebrating 50 years helping the poor people of the world this year, so let us try and make it a special year with our offerings and prayers.
Fun, Games & Faith for Young People The Living Your Faith camps take place every August, and they are a chance for young people to grow in their faith and make friends with other young Catholics from the Diocese. The weeks are being run by a team of experienced helpers which includes our chaplain, Fr. Tom Finnegan. Each day will be built around Mass, and the children/young people will be taking part in a variety of faith-related activities as well as plenty of fun, games and a day trip. Our Lady’s Homestead in Nympsfield is a peaceful and safe location, and the camps promise to be a spiritual and fun two weeks. Details of camps: Week 1 = 13th – 17th August age 7-11 Week 2 = 20th – 24th August age 12-16 Week one is generally for children in school years 3 to 6, whilst week 2 is for children in years 7 to 11. COST for the camps: Week 1 £120 per week; Week 2 £130 per week, In order to secure a place on the camps, a completed booking form and a £30 deposit are required. 50+ Club The club will meet in the church hall on Tuesday 7 Feb. at 2.0pm.for the A.G.M. and payment of annual subscriptions of £7. New members very welcome.
CLOW will have a meeting on Tuesday evening after the evening Mass in the Majella room. All existing CLOW members are invited to attend and any new members or those who maybe interested in joining are very welcome.
Church Door – The outer church door has been fitted with a new self-closing device. When opened beyond 45° the delay mechanism will give ample time for the passage of prams/wheelchairs with no need to hold the door open.
